Syracuse area has one of highest property tax rates in the U.S.: See how bad it is

Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse metro area has the third-highest effective property tax rate in the nation, according to a new report from ATTOM, a real estate data firm.

The Syracuse area, which includes Madison, Onondaga and Oswego counties, ranks just behind the Rockford, Illinois and Rochester metro areas with an effective property tax rate of 2.159%. Rochester’s effective rate of 2.218% is highest in the country.
