What is Proof of Delivery?

Proof of Delivery is only available for items where a Signature Confirmation™ service has been purchased or is included in the mail class:

A USPS Proof of Delivery is available to the 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, but is specifically NOT available to the other U.S. Territories and Possessions.

What is a Bulk Proof of Delivery?

Bulk Proof of Delivery is available to authorized commercial mailers when using a Signature Confirmation™ service, such as Adult Signature Required Service, Registered Mail®, or Restricted Delivery. Customers receiving Bulk Proof of Delivery may obtain signature data through a signature extract file format. Customers interested in participating in Bulk Proof of Delivery service can refer to the Postal Pro page on the Bulk Proof of Delivery Program for more details.

How do I request a Proof of Delivery?

You can request a Proof of Delivery for applicable mailpieces by using the USPS Tracking® Tool at USPS.com®. Select Proof of Delivery and follow the provided directions to receive a Proof of Delivery email either with or without a delivery address.

If an item was delivered internationally, USPS does not have a POD for it. If such an item required a signature and if it is the policy of that country’s postal service, a POD for that foreign delivery can possibly be requested using the research process available through an USPS international agent. Call the Customer Care Center and provide your item's USPS Tracking Number.

Note that you may see the POD request option before the item is delivered. You can submit the request, but you won’t receive the POD until shortly after the item has been delivered.

Access to Proof of Delivery is available for applicable mailpieces as long as the delivery information for such mailpieces is available.
